Ah… a good and refreshing question… (non technical and not related to our plugin.)
Regarding your desired result, “my dynamic PDF…into my webpage so that when someone clicks the link or types in the web address, just the PDF form will pop up in the browser window and they can fill it out and submit it electronically”.
The method you seek to deploy will be 100% dependent upon the user’s browser and installed Acrobat Form compatible software. This is the very reason you’re having trouble finding a simple answer, and also why we have developed not one, but two different plugins to manage the filling of PDF forms.
A few questions;
– Regarding “my webpage”. How is your webpage hosted? Do you have FTP access to the webpage?
– Regarding “submit it electronically”.. How do you want to receive it electronically? as the PDF attachment by email? or as raw data entered into a database, spreadsheet, CMS, or other?
– Will 100% of your target users have Adobe’s prerequisites to complete and save the form?(Side Note: We’re also located in (619) 🙂 Let us know if you’d prefer a quick call…

To be clear, we made changes to the PDF on the site now in order for the checkboxes (which should be radio buttons) work correctly. This mapping was the cause of the error.

The only error was the mapping. We corrected the mapping to work as designed, see example merge here.
The PDF form has a lot of fields, therefore it would be best practice to use the automap feature to map most of the PDF. Checkboxes, radio button, and Address fields will require manually mapping.
Our suggestion is to;
-Rename all PDF field’s to their corresponding Formidable Form field “KEY” and upload to the plugin using the Export tab.
-From the plugin’s SETTINGS tab: Check the option “Enable automated layout creation for new field maps”, and Click Save.
-From the plugin’s EXPORT tab, “Field Map to use” dropdown: Select “New Field Map”, “Name of Field Map”, “Select (THE NEW) PDF file to work with”
-Click Create New Field MapThen go through the field map and correct each of the Checkbox, Radio Button, and Address field based on the linked instructions.

What are the differences between PRO2PDF and E2PDF? As far as functionality?

Yes, PRO2PDF will do exactly as your described; “form fields mapped to fields on a PDF …. the fields filled in gets emailed as an attachment…”
However, be sure to compare PRO2PDF with our newest (and best ever made plugin to create PDFs in WP) called E2Pdf. The free version includes all features (email as attachment too) for one 1-page PDF template.

There’s no special trick, just create two field map layouts for the same Formidable Form and set them both to send an email attachment. They both will be attached to the email when the form is submitted.
The only issue is that the merges should be optimized for speed with no or minimal images to avoid timeouts. You can use this site to reduce PDF file size.

Yes, it appears the third-party API has gone offline and is no longer an option to create .docx files.
At this point PRO2PDF will not be adding the functionality, however, our other plugin E2Pdf has .docx and .jpg outputs on the development todo list. We do not have a timeline yet for the development, but we hope to implement a solution in the first quarter of 2021.

Sounds like more than one field map layout is set to send an email attachment when the Formidable form is submitted.
Open all field map layouts and change the option to email attachment to NO, and save the Field Map Layout.

This is not a known issue, a possible cause might be duplicate fields in the PDF form on top of the original “_1” fields.
Complete this form if it’s possible for us to login and take a look. If not possible, then try troubleshooting by adding 6 fields to the PDF temporarily with 3 of the field names ending in _1 and three ending in _2, then map three of the repeater fields to the “_1” fields and test. If all works, there is an issue with the existing PDF fields. Delete them and recreate them. Let us know the result.
