It’s a timeout issue caused by the following;
1. Size matters… The size of the uploaded PDF form is 2.58mb, we were able to shrink it to 2.07mb using Adobe Acrobat and have uploaded it to your site.
2. There are two field map layouts that are trying to send email attachments. Un-check the email actions, or just delete the field map that you are not using.
3. There are 10+ signatures that are being merged to the PDF which takes a considerable amount of time. We suggest NOT sending the PDFs as attachments, but rather send a link to the PDF in the body of the email using the PRO2PDF shortcode.
To speed up the design of field map layouts, we strongly recommend;
1. Using copy/paste from Formidable form field names to PDF form field names prior to creating field map layouts, which automates the creation of the field map layout, and greatly reduces the time to just seconds.
2. For large forms, disable the “Enable field previews in the Field Map Designer” option on the plugin’s SETTINGS tab.

The PDF you upload to the plugin MUST be already contain the PDF form fields. Our demo video shows how the field map layout is created.
NOTE: It’s best of you copy/paste the names of the Formidable form fields to the PDF form fields, and check the “Enable automated layout creation for new field maps” option on the Settings tab prior to creating the Field Map Layout, that way the plugin will automatically create the field map layout (except for checkbox fields and repeatable sections).

You CAN change the name, but then you MUST select the new PDF from the “Select PDF file to work with:” dropdown field on the field map layout, then save the field map layout.

You do not need to remove the old PDF, only upload the revised PDF with the same file name which will overwrite the old PDF.
Nonetheless, what you’ve done will not cause the Dropdown list to disappear. The dropdown only disappears when the PDF does not have form fields. Double-check your PDF on the server for the form field…

Yes, use the PRO2PDF TEMPLATES tab, which allows you to export (and import) the Formidable Form, PDF Form, and Field Map Layout in one file.
NOTE: Disable any repeatable sections before exporting, then re-enable after importing to the new site. BEWARE: Disabling repeatable sections on the first site will destroy any existing data in the repeatable section. You should first export the repeatable section’s form from Formidable’s Export tab prior to disabling the repeatable section, then import after re-enabling the repeatable section.

Try shrinking the original PDF file size, and also changing the following PHP settings;
memory_limit = 512M
post_max_size = 512M
output_buffering = 4096
max_execution_time = 300
max_input_vars = 4000– Yes, local PDFtk will be faster, but you lose merging signatures and images. Is the server connected to the internet or is a on an intranet? If intranet, you’ll need the intranet version of the plugin.

Our site explains that the paid version of PRO2PDF is required to merge signatures from the Formidable Form’s Signature Plugin, not that we are providing the signature plugin or any plugin other than PRO2PDF as PRO2PDF is separate from Formidable Forms, and Formidable Forms owns the signature plugin.
We absolutely apologize for the misunderstanding, however, with thousands of users, this is the first time we have experienced a misunderstanding regarding signatures, nevertheless, we will better clarify the signature plugin feature on our site.

can I use this plugin to collect data from a webform and populate fields on an existing fillable PDF?

Select the demo form from the top dropdown labeled: “Select the form to export data from:“, then select the ‘fp2p_DEMO’ field map layout and click the delete button at the bottom of the field map layout.
If you’ve already deleted the demo form, then uncheck the “Limit Field Map to use Dropdown” option on the plugin’s SETTINGS tab, that will enable all field map layouts, allowing you to select and delete.

You’re correct, it’s not complicated. However, due to WP security, you would need to learn how to use Formidable Views to place data from a Formidable Form entry onto a WordPress page/post.

You do not need to “change the formidable form redirect“… you only need to add a parameter to the existing URL.
Simply create a Formidable View as instructed here and put the tag PRO2PDF shortcode we provided above into the view, then put the view’s shortcode on the page exactly where you want the button. That’s it!
