    Hi,

we are breaking our brains on trying to understand how to get started with this plugin.

We do exactly what you say in the video, but when we click merge, we don’t get any form field to be mapped to any pdf field. So, I have a question: do we need to upload a pdf with pre-made field? If yes, how do we creat fields in the pdf prior to uploading it? Do we need to do this with a special software?

    Thanks,

    Andrea

Yes, a pre-made PDF form is required. You may use any Adobe Acrobat Form creator. PDFEscape.com is online and free. The plugin requirements are listed on the website here.

OK, thanks. We have created a basic PDF with premade forms and created a new field map.
However, we have problem: we have selected the first field (called “name”) as the dataset name, however, in the export tab, we don’t see this name dataset, we just see “[empty] – 1-26-2018”. We have tried and tried again saving the field map, but it never works. As consequence, once we submit the form, the generated pdf has always empty fields.

    What can we do?

Delete all unused, test, and failed field map layouts and try saving the working field map layout again after selecting the “Name” field as the dataset name. If that does not work, remove the plugin and reinstall and try again.

Complete this form if you need us to take a look at your site’s installation.

Hi, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin, but I can never get the right dataset to export.
I want to highlight this particular: the Formidalbe form is being visible and filled only by a registered user, I don’t know if this is the problem. Now I show you the dataset names I got after several form submission trials. They always start with the name of the registered user who tried to filled and submit the form.

    Select the dataset to export:
    Vincent – 01-27-2018
    Vincent – 01-27-2018
    Andrew – 01-27-2018
    Andrew – 01-26-2018
    Mark – 01-26-2018

So, I can never see the actual dataset name as set in th Field Map creator, which should simply be something like “Name – 01-27-2018” or so.

    Can you please help?

I gave you admin user and password through the form you said. Did you have a look at the website, did you find out how to solve the problem?

    Thanks,

UPDATE: Hi, I have a (good) update on this problem:
It seems that the pdf attached to the email is correct, whereas the pdf which opens automatically in a new window using the slugs is always wrong. It’s like the pdf opening automically in a new windows is always the same (probably because the slug contains specific entry IDs?), whereas the pdf sent to the customer as email attachment is always correct. This is interesting, because the pdf as email attachment could be enough and maybe even better, due to privacy reasons. However, it would be nice to know how to correct the pdf opening in a new window upon form submission.
In regard of privacy reason, I was wondering: where does the plugin store the generated pdfs? DOes it simply attach it to the email, or does it also put a pdf copy in some wordpress folder?
    Thanks,
    Andrea

We replied to you with the following by email on Feb 3rd and forwarded today. Check your spam folder.

    —–

There were two (2) field map layouts created for the ORDER FORM. We deleted one, now the other is displaying the field selected by the “Use as Dataset Name?” radio button.

Let us know if you have any other issues.

    —-

Based on your last message, you MUST change the dataset=”xxx” parameter to dataset=[id]

PDFs are created on demand, and not saved on the server.

Adding this shortcode to your Order Confirmation page results in a automatic download of the PDF without providing a “DOWNLOAD” link.

    [formidable-download form=”kql1o2″ dataset=[id] layout=”1002″ inline=1 title=””]

Hi, I am having a problem: all PDFs which I download through my website cannot be opened. All PDF software provide with an error message (e.g. Chrome: it was not possible to open the pdf). I am talking about normally working pdf which, once have been uploaded in my website, cannot be opened at subsequent download. This affect also pdf generated by PDF2PRO starting from a Formidable Pro submission. The funny thing is that PDF generated by PDF2PRO can be normally opened when downloaded from the email motification message, but cannot be opened when downloading it from the download page after form submission. Curiosly, those two PDFs (the one in the email and the one on the website) have different file names.

We would need to take a look at the Original PDF, the Field Map Layout, and the shortcode used to generate the PDF to find the cause of your issue.

Complete this form if we are able to login to your site. If not, upload the Original PDF, a screenshot of the Field Map Layout, and a screenshot of the shortcode used in the On Submit message box to this form and we will try to find the issue.

Hi, I have the usual problem. I have created a new field map based on atotal new pdf, I have named the dataset using a random field (in this case “Title”, a field which can contain Prof, Dr, Mr or Mrs). However, as datasets, I am getting a very long list with different dates (but I have created just one dataset). Whatever dataset I choose, the PDF always remains frozen to one submission. SO, I can submit the form many different times with many different entries, but as download pdf I always get the same PDF; filled with a set of data from one single submission.
Sorry, I appreciate this plugin very much, but isn’t there any way to make it a little bit easier to use?

PS: I wold like to add a screenshot of the dataset I am getting, but I cannot find an upload window. What I see in the dataset list is something like this:
    Dr – 03/24/2018
    Dr – 03/24/2018
    Dr – 03/24/2018
    Dr – 03/24/2018
    Dr – 03/24/2018
    Dr – 02/24/2018
    Dr – 02/24/2018
    Dr – 02/24/2018
    Dr – 02/24/2018
    Dr – 02/24/2018

We logged in and changed the dataset name to the 2nd mapped field [267](Name), however you can change it to any other field that you’d prefer by selecting the radio button on the first column of the Field Map Layout and then save the Field Map Layout.

If you need a different list with download links, we also created this Formidable View list of entries that includes a download link for each entry. You can edit the view to create a better list for your needs.

Regarding your question: “…isn’t there any way to make it a little bit easier to use?
Yes, we agree, that’s why we created a replacement plugin that will be released next week called E2Pdf. E2Pdf is much easier to use. We have also created a conversion tool to convert PRO2PDF templates to E2Pdf templates. Visit the website here to sign up to receive the beta version once it’s released.

Thanks for loggin in and helping. The problem is not really the name of the field map, the problem is that the download link generated by the field may always point to the same pdf. So, if I fill a new order form online, I will end up in getting the pdf of a previous order.

I am glad to hear you are releasing a new plugin! Will it completely substitute this one? Will it be downloadable as an update, or do we need to uninstall this one?
    Thanks,

    Andrew

Change the shortcode’s dataset=xx parameter to dataset=[id] to download the current entry, as shown on the demo video at 3:25.

The new version is a totally new plugin and the beta version will be available to current PRO2PDF subscribers at no charge. Both plugins may be used at the same time.

Hi, I wrote you also on E2PDF because I bought also that plugin, but I am not able to get a pfd with neither of the two.
The latest errors I am getting from PRO2PDF after substituting dataset=”587″ with dataset=[id] ae the following:

1- error in the download link, which is now displayed as “Download layout=”1003″]” (???)
2- error in producing and seeing the pdf on Chrome: Chrome says it is impossible to open the pdf.

    I can produce screenshots.

    Thanks,

    Andrew
