    I am getting this error when generating PDFs:
    “There was an error generating the PDF file.
    Your server wasn’t able to upload PDF file: Operation timed out after 120000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received”

    I have previously adjusted the server variables, and verified this with Godaddy support who checked and confirmed that these settings are indeed being applied, yet FormidablePro2PDF is STILL timing out.

    Server PHP settings:
    max_execution_time = 600
    max_input_time = 600
    max_input_vars = 4000
    memory_limit = 512M
    post_max_size = 256M
    session.gc_maxlifetime = 1440

    For some reason, the Pro2PDF is ignoring these server settings. Does your plugin have an internal timeout setting that is hardcoded to 120000 ms????

    There is no reason Pro2PDF should be timing out, and yet it is. I need this fixed ASAP.

    There are many possible causes of this error. Keep in mind the recommended max file size is 4MB-5MB.
    — Did the merge ever work?
    * If no, there may be an issue with the PDF form. Try a new merge with just one field, if it works, then there is an issue with one of the PDF fields. Make a copy of the merge layout, then begin removing fields/save/test until you find the issue.
    * If yes…
    ~ What changes were made since it worked?
    ~ Are you merging images, if so how many and how large?
    ~ How many fields are being merged?

    — If the PDF file size is too big, try using this site to reduce the file size.

    You did not answer my question. My question is, why is it timing out at 120seconds, when I clearly have all the server settings to max.

    It seems that Pro2PDF is ignoring the server settings, and it times out after 120secs. Again, does your plugin have an internal timeout setting that is hardcoded to 120000 ms???? It does seem so. Please confirm.

    And yes, I’m merging a large file but usually it does work as long as it runs under 2 minutes, then sometimes it timesout after 2 minutes. It seems to me your plugin has a hard code timeout, regardless of the server settings. Is this correct??

    Also, we recommend the following max settings;
    memory_limit = 512M
    post_max_size = 512M
    output_buffering = 4096
    max_execution_time = 300
    max_input_vars = 4000

    No, our server is not causing the timing out issue with your merge.

    Provide answers to the troubleshooting tips, it’s very likely that your file is too large for PRO2PDF. You may also try our newest plugin, E2Pdf for faster performance and larger file size capabilities.

    Again, back to square one. I mentioned in my first post that I already set “max_execution_time = 600” and I confirmed with Godaddy, AND YET your plugin STILL times out after 120 seconds, which leads me to conclude that your plugin has an internal timeout and is therefore ignoring my server settings.

    File size is approx 3MB

    Otherwise, how do you explain the fact that I have timeout set to 600 secs, and yet I am getting this error from your plugin:

    “There was an error generating the PDF file.
    Your server wasn’t able to upload PDF file: Operation timed out after 120000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received”

    Again, my question is, if you don’t have an internal hard-coded timeout, then how can I set the max_execution_time so that this plugin actually uses this setting, rather than ignoring it (and defaulting to 120s.) Seems the plugin is totally ignoring my server settings, why? Why is it timing out after 120secs??

    (BTW, I did try E2PDF and purchased a license and installed it, but the field mapping got messed up and also I could not properly edit the PDF using the E2PDF plugin, so I disabled it because it wasn’t working very well.)

    How large are the image files you are merging to the PDF and how many are there?

    Please reply to the troubleshooting questions so we may locate the precise issue.

    Regarding the error you are receiving, as stated initially, there are many reasons for that error that have nothing to do with our server settings that thousands of people use daily.

    — Did the merge ever work?
    * If no, there may be an issue with the PDF form. Try a new merge with just one field, if it works, then there is an issue with one of the PDF fields. Make a copy of the merge layout, then begin removing fields/save/test until you find the issue.

    ~ Are you merging images, if so how many and how large?
    ~ How many fields are being merged?

    –Regarding E2Pdf, it is not required that you use the built-in PDF editor. Any Acrobat editor may be used, just like PRO2PDF.

    E2Pdf is far superior to any PDF plugin for WordPress. If the capabilities of PRO2PDF have been exhausted, I encourage you to reach out to the E2Pdf support team to resolve any issues you are having. E2Pdf is actively in development, whereas PRO2PDF is merely maintaining compatibility.
