I recently noticed that the email attachments that are attached to our applications for continuing education course approval (https://www.curesworks.org/continuing-education/) are no longer working. I have not touched the page but only updated your PDF plugin and the formidable forms plugin. Any ideas what is going on? The emails have an attachment but they are no longer able to be opened. Must be a bad file for some reason.

There are no known issues with updates. We’ll need further information to help identify the cause.

. Are you able to export PDFs from the plugin’s EXPORT tab?
    – If not, download the PDF the exists on the server, open and inspect the file for any obvious issues.
. Are the attachments PDFs, and are they still named correctly?

    Let us know the results.

I am not able to export PDFs from the Export Tab. I am not sure where the PDF is on the server to be able to download. Is it located within the Pro2PDF plugin folder? Any ideas? The attachment is still named correctly in the email. It just doesn’t open. The last email attachment that worked correctly is January 31st. Since then we have received two application emails. The emails received on Feb. 5th and 13th both have problems with the file. But I still can’t export the data from the Jan. 31 dataset into a PDF.

PRO2PDF files are located here: https://www.curesworks.org/wp-content/uploads/fpropdf-forms/

Take a look at the file and let us know if you find any issues. Optionally, you may complete this form to have us login and take a look at your site’s installation.

This is an odd issue, we are going to need FTP access to troubleshoot the cause. Use this same form to provide the credentials.

Hello. Have you been able to figure out what has happened to my PDFs and why they don’t open as an attachment in the email? Thanks.

No. This appears to be caused by an update to the server’s cURL or PHP software, but we have not found the exact cause or a fix for the issue. The PDF’s base64 encoding is being modified and unable to be decoded on our server. Are you able to check with your hosting provider and find out if cURL or PHP was updated around the time the issue began?

We are still working on this and remain at your service.

If there was an update, can you ask them to revert back to the prior version?

I have contacted the web host and will let you know their response. It will probably be early Monday (my time (CA – Pacific Standard) before I will hear from them.

It appears you were correct about an update to the PHP. The webhost changed to a different version and it appears to have solved the problem. Thank you very much for your help.

The web host got back to me with the following:
“PHP has been updated during the time frame to PHP 7.0 (7.0.27) non thread safe version.

Rolling back to an old version would not be easy as everyone on the same server would be effected.

We do have PHP 7.1 (7.1.14) installed on the server running your website. I have changed your website to this version of PHP to see if that resolves the issue.

Let me know if changing the PHP version has fixed the issue or not.”
